Quinlans are named to honor Ross Quinlan inventor of ID3 and C4.5.
The challenge is to get the smallest possible prediction error on a number of data sets with different levels of difficulty and different machine learning tools used.
Every week in April (hence, April Madness) we hold five (four in 2021) prediction challenge competitions and use Kaggle to rank the competitors by accuracy – the most accurate competitor OVERALL - will win the Annual Prediction Challenge and earn the QUINLAN (which is almost as prestigious as OSCAR or GRAMMY)
In 2024, we have had 5 competitions - this time participation was optional, only for these who are passionate about data science. This is even more remarkable than usual, since these students put a lot of time and ideas into this remarkable achievment!
Below, the leaderboard over all three competitions by cumlative accuracy.
